Over a month after initially indicating he was signing with a new team, former Gonzaga forward Kyle Wiltjer finally revealed his next destination will be with the Zhejiang Lions in the Chinese Basketball Association.
“Year 7 loading,” Wiltjer posted in a tweet. “Headed to Hangzhou, China with the fam. Excited for the next challenge and new opportunity.”
Wiltjer played in Spain last season, where he averaged 10.6 points and 2.8 rebounds in 33 games with Lenovo Tenerife. He spent time with the Canadian National Team, initially reporting for the FIBA world cup qualifiers but backing out to sign with Zhejiang.
He also spent part of the summer working out with NBA clubs, including the Dallas Mavericks, hoping to get back into the league after appearing in 14 games in 2016-17.
Wiltjer averaged 20.4 points with Gonzaga in 2015-16, still the most recent Zag to reach the twenty points per game mark.
