2024 guard Dedan Thomas sets visit to Gonzaga in early November

Mark Few and the Gonzaga Bulldogs haven’t had much success on the recruiting trail this summer.

They recently missed out on center Jacob McFarland -who committed to Houston – and it appears they are no longer in the running for Wesley Yates, who plans to announce his decision on October 5 after cancelling his visit to Spokane.

A win on the trail would ease the mind of Zag fans worried about this program’s future. Of course, the staff’s incredible success via the transfer portal should help with that as well.

Regardless, that makes 2024 point guard Dedan Thomas Jr. a key recruiting target for Few and his staff. Thomas received an offer from the Zags back in late July, joining a healthy list of schools which includes Arizona, LSU, Florida, Houston, UCLA, and USC.

Thomas wrapped up an official visit with Houston, but according to Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers he remains locked in to a scheduled visit to Spokane. The visit is scheduled over the first weekend of November, before Gonzaga tips off against North Florida on November 7.

Thomas attends Liberty High School in Nevada, the same school Julian Strawther attended before coming to Gonzaga. Strawther’s development into a first round talent should be a big part of Few’s recruiting pitch to Thomas, who is considering reclassifying to the class of 2023.

While a Dedan Thomas/Dusty Stromer recruiting class is appealing, the Zags will be happy securing a commitment from Thomas regardless of which year he is able to arrive in Spokane.

The true point guard is ranked inside the top 40 of 247Sports’ composite rankings in his (current) class, and he would make a welcome addition to the program.
