The Gonzaga Bulldogs released their roster on Wednesday ahead of the 2022-23 season, giving fans a glimpse at updated height and weight measurements for the players still on the roster – as well as a biography of the team’s newcomers and one jersey number change.
Hunter Sallis, who wore No. 10 last year as a freshman, has switched to No. 5 for his sophomore season. He is the only returner to change jersey numbers, while newcomers Efton Reid (15) and Malachi Smith (13) each took over jersey numbers they wore at LSU and Chattanooga, respectively.
Meanwhile, incoming freshman Braden Huff will wear Chet Holmgren’s old number, 34, the same number he wore in high school. And Gonzaga’s only other newcomer is walk-on guard Kellen Mitchell, who is going to wear No. 4.
Mitchell comes to Gonzaga from Muskegon, Michigan where he played ball at Fairmont Prep. He committed to joining the Zags as a walk-on back in June, but yesterday’s roster reveal was the first confirmed indication he will be with the team this year. He joins Abe Eagle, Colby Brooks, and Joe Few as walk-ons on Gonzaga’s roster for next season.
Lastly, a few players have updated weight records, although none of them are particularly substantial. Hunter Sallis, Kaden Perry, and Malachi Smith each saw five pounds added to their reported weight, while Nolan Hickman and Dominick Harris each had five pounds removed.
Gonzaga is set to begin their season officially on November 7 against North Florida, although they will have Kraziness in the Kennel (10/8) and an exhibition game prior to that.
