Stanford, Wyoming highlight Gonzaga Women’s Basketball’s non-conference schedule

Gonzaga women’s basketball head coach Lisa Fortier revealed the team’s 13-game non-conference schedule on Monday ahead of the 2022-23 season.

The Zags play eight games in The Kennel, starting with an exhibition matchup against Western Washington on November 4. After that they will host Long Beach State (for the first time in program history) on Nov. 10, followed by Southern Utah two days later on Nov. 12.

Gonzaga then heads to Laramie, Wyoming to take on the Cowgirls, who they hosted in Spokane last year and defeated by a score of 54-47.

After that the squad will head to Paradise Island in the Bahamas for three games in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament. The bracket for that event has yet to be revealed, but the field includes Louisville, Marquette, Rutgers, South Dakota State, Tennessee, Texas, and UCLA, so the Lady Zags should get some quality opponents out of the trip.

Two more home bouts close out the month of November, against Eastern Washington and Maine, before a true road game against Stephen F. Austin on December 1 and the big one, another matchup with the mighty Stanford Cardinal in Paolo Alto on December 4.

Finally, a trio of home matchups against Queens (12/6) UC Davis (12/11) and Montana (12/21) round out the schedule before the team moves into the WCC slate after Christmas.

The Zags went 27-7 last season, and they will look to once again win the WCC championship and make a run in March under coach Fortier.
