Following in the footsteps of 247Sports, ESPN recently released an updated look at their top 100 rankings for the class of 2023.
Gonzaga currently has just one player committed in 2023, combo guard Dusty Stromer, who came in at No. 49 on the updated list. He was No. 48 on 247’s updated rankings, even after an excellent run through the summer circuit which included an All-Star nod at the NBPA Top 100 camp this summer.
Wesley Yates, who recently named Gonzaga in his top nine, came in at No. 38 on the list – the highest among Gonzaga’s (known) targets. He is planning to visit Spokane, although a date has not been publicized on that at this time.
Kaden Cooper, who also has Gonzaga on his list of finalists, moved up to No. 45 on the list after an extremely strong summer. He took part in Damian Lillard’s Formula Zero camp alongside Hunter Sallis and other Zag targets, after visiting Spokane in June over Hoopfest weekend.
Another Gonzaga target, JJ Taylor, came in at No. 46 overall, although most believe he is Kentucky bound after he visited the school last year.
Finally, center prospect Jacob McFarland continued his rise into the top 100, coming in at No. 93 per ESPN. McFarland was thrilled to hear from Gonzaga, and his likeness to Chet Holmgren makes him an intriguing prospect worth watching for GU fans.
Mark Few and the staff are no doubt hard at work trying to turn a few of these offers into commitments, which would further solidify this program’s future.
