The Gonzaga Bulldogs will take on the mighty Oregon State Beavers in a double-header on Saturday, October 1 at Vince Genna Stadium in Bend. The games will be exhibition style during the fall baseball season, and will not count toward either team’s regular season record.
Vince Genna Stadium is the home of the Bend Elks, a college wood bat summer league team that plays in the high profile West Coast League along with the Corvallis Knights, Bellingham Bells, Kelowna Falcons, Walla Walla Sweets, Wenatchee AppleSox, and Portland Pickles – among a handful of others.
Many Gonzaga and Oregon State players have played for or against the Elks, and fans in the central Oregon area will now get an opportunity to see two of the best college baseball teams on the west coast square off against each other this Fall.
Oregon State finished the year with a 48-18 record, ranking as high as No. 2 in the country at times. Gonzaga went 37-19 last year but fell early in their regional tournament to Columbia.
The first pitch is slated for 1:05 and tickets are available here.
