Chet Holmgren will be joining Paolo Banchero and many other NBA stars at The Crawsover, a Seattle-area pro-am event hosted by former NBA star Jamal Crawford at Seattle Pacific University on Saturday.
The event is littered with former and current NBA and college stars, including Banchero, Jaden McDaniels, Nate Robinson, Dejounte Murray, and now Holmgren. Former Zags Micah Downs and Steven Gray were both listed on rosters, but Gray has since retired and it is unclear if Downs will participate.
Pro-Am events have become very popular among basketball-starved fans during the slow summer months, with the Drew League taking off these past few weeks after LeBron James’ participation.
Holmgren could get a chance to square off against Banchero for the first time since the two met in Gonzaga’s loss to Duke in November of last season. The two were scheduled to face each other during the NBA summer league, but Orlando opted to hold Banchero out to avoid risking injury to the No. 1 overall pick.
Holmgren, who went No. 2 overall to Oklahoma City after an outstanding one-and-done season in Spokane, could get a chance at redemption if he and Banchero are on opposite teams when the event tips off on Saturday.
Andy hosts the Locked on Zags and Locked on College Basketball podcasts, and serves Locked On in a marketing/digital content creator role as well. He lives just outside Portland with his wife Jenna and dog, Tillie.
