How Damian Lillard’s new exclusive basketball camp could help Gonzaga land a priority recruit

Portland Trail Blazers star point guard Damian Lillard has created an exclusive basketball camp called The Formula, with the dates set for August 3-7. Unlike many other camps put on by college or professional basketball players, The Formula is an exclusive, invitation-only event designed to cater to 20 high school athletes and 20 college athletes.

The attendees were rolled out on The Formula’s twitter page on Sunday, and two names will stand out immediately to Gonzaga fans among the high schoolers: Dusty Stromer and Kaden Cooper.

Stromer is currently Gonzaga’s only commitment in the class of 2023, while Cooper is a priority recruit for the Zags who visited Spokane over Hoopfest weekend.

Cooper is a big time athlete who has displayed more than just elite level dunking throughout the summer, and he’s continued to rise up the rankings while picking up recent offers from Kansas, Memphis, and UCLA – so this is far from a sure thing for Mark Few and his staff.

Spending five days working on his game right next to Stromer, an early commit to Gonzaga who has risen up ranking lists himself, can only help Gonzaga’s quest to land the Oklahoma native.

If they are able to do so, it will ease the concern of many Zag fans who have only seen two recruits commit to Gonzaga in 2022 and 2023 combined.
