Gonzaga’s first round opponent for the PK85 is set

The Gonzaga Bulldogs are set to participate in the PK85 at the Moda Center in Portland over Feast Week, and now they know at least one of the teams they will go up against.

Gonzaga will take on the Vikings of Portland State in their first contest, according to a tweet from CBS’ Jon Rothstein on Monday morning. The game is set to tip-off at 9:30 PM PT on Thursday.

Duke will take on Oregon State, Xavier will take on Florida, and Purdue will take on West Virginia to round out the eight teams in the Legacy bracket.

The other side of the bracket was revealed as well; with Oregon vs. UConn, Alabama vs. Michigan State, North Carolina vs. Portland, and Villanova taking on Iowa State.

There’s no doubt this is a disappointing outcome for the Zags, who were hoping to pick up three high quality victories while in Portland. Instead they’ll take on a Vikings squad that went 14-17 last year and finished 248th in KenPom’s overall rankings.

Of course, a win will give Mark Few’s squad a chance to play another excellent opponent – likely either Duke, Florida or Purdue – while another win would give them a chance to win their bracket and establish themselves as one of the teams to beat across the entire NCAA.
