While Gonzaga Bulldogs fans got a first look at Chet Holmgren and his new home in Oklahoma City, it will be at least a couple more days until Andrew Nembhard makes his summer league debut since the Indiana Pacers don’t play until July 8.
That doesn’t mean fans cannot get a glance at how Nembhard looks in his new digs, however, with the Pacers revealing the jersey number for each of the three rookies in a tweet on Wednesday morning:
Nembhard is set to don No. 2 for Indiana, while Tommy Lloyd-coached Benn Mathurin out of Arizona rocks the 00.
No. 2 hasn’t been a particularly fruitful number for former Pacers, although Eastern Washington alumni Rodney Stuckey (2015-2017) as well as UCLA alumnus Darren Collison (2011-2019) and Earl Watson (2010) all donned numero dos over the past decade.
Nembhard should see a solid role in year one for the Pacers, especially after the team sent Malcolm Brogdon to Boston shortly after the draft.
Andy hosts the Locked on Zags and Locked on College Basketball podcasts, and serves Locked On in a marketing/digital content creator role as well. He lives just outside Portland with his wife Jenna and dog, Tillie.
